I had a strange reaction tasting my Queen Anne's Lace wine when racking - both times I found that my lower jaw got a bit numb when I tasted it. Of course I assumed this meant I had picked the wrong flowers, and had poisoned myself. I've now concluded that is has nothing to do with the QAL - it seems to be from drinking must with a lot of active champagne yeast in it. I didn't get the sensation when I tasted the racked QAL wine today (tasting some that I diverted midstream during racking - very clear), but did get exactly the same effect from tasting the dregs of the pineapple wine after the racking was done, which I know did not poison me last week. So I think I can relax and just not drink lees and I'll be ok.
